Privacy Policy for AIMS
This policy discloses the privacy practices for the AIMS (Artificial Intelligence for Molecular Sciences) cloud-based molecular design software developed and operated by the Institute for Future Intelligence (IFI), a non-profit research organization based in Massachusetts that is dedicated to promoting STEM education and research. This policy applies solely to information collected by AIMS for service and research purposes.
Data Collection, Use, and Sharing
If you would like to store your AIMS design files on the cloud, you will need to register with AIMS so that it can create an account for you.
Currently, AIMS allows you to sign in using the so-called
OAuth-based Google Sign-In,
which is provided by Google to simplify the registration process with a third-party app like AIMS with a few clicks.
All the user authentication steps are securely handled by Google.
When you sign into AIMS using this service from Google, AIMS collects a unique alphanumeric string
(such as P2wNcxhEdas8BN11hBstfZdDau2
) for use to create and access your AIMS account.
The alphanumeric ID string is used only with AIMS and cannot be used to log into any other app or website.
With an AIMS account, you receive benefits such as storing your files on the cloud, sharing your designs with others, being notified when someone is interested in your work, and using other computational and communal facilities within AIMS. However, if you cannot or do not want to sign in using the Google service, you can sign in anonymously to create a temporary account. In this case, no personally identifiable data such as your name and email is ever obtained and used at any point to create the account. Note that such a temporary account will be lost if you sign out from it. Keep in mind that, every time you sign in anonymously, a new temporary account will be created. So you will not be able to access the files that you have stored in the previous temporary accounts.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
If you still do not feel comfortable about the above privacy statement, you may opt out of any future relationship with AIMS at any time. You can do the following by emailing charles@intofuture.org:
- See what data we have about you, if any;
- Change/correct any data we have about you;
- Ask us to delete any data we have about you;
- Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
As we have no other way to identify your data, please provide your alphanumeric ID string in your communication with us so that we can entertain your request. Your alphanumeric ID string can be found in the "My Account Settings" page within AIMS.
Updates
This policy may change from time to time and all updates will be posted on this page.
